AirBnB™ buildings in Vancouver!
Airbnb has been one of the most preferred accommodations of tourists and locals alike. Before the global pandemic, Airbnbs in Vancouver, British Columbia were booked solid on any given night.
Go to any WaterCooler in Vancouver and you can almost guarantee to find yourself in a conversation revolving around real estate. More and more of these conversations are centered around AirBnB™ and its place in the Vancouver real estate market! There is excitement, confusion, fascination and everything in between. The shared economy movement is upon us, whether it’s Uber, Lyft, or AirBnB™, all are likely here to stay.
The fact is, the situation is rather fluid which is frequently the case when technology enters a more traditional market like real estate. And it is only heightened in a city like Vancouver that loves its red tape!
With skyrocketing rentals and record low vacancy rates, the city finally budged in early 2018 and began to allow short-term rentals, something previously reserved for licensed hotels and B&B’s in specific pockets of the city.

However, this did not come without its limitations. Short term rentals are limited to certain buildings and require specific standards and licenses to be met with regards to safety and occupancy. These also vary greatly depending on if you are a renter or in a strata imposed building.
